Beach Crest

Valerie was retained by the Ridgway family to restore and improve Beach Crest in the Middle Street Conservation area. This is a Grade II Listed Building, which was purchased by the clients’ Great-great-grandfather around 150 years earlier. The project involved comprehensive refurbishment of the entire house, including all the building fabric – walls, floors and roofs, as well as fitting new plumbing, electrics and data installations, and a spacious new kitchen. The project also involved building a new rear extension to accommodate shower rooms and bathing facilities, as well as a new glazed ‘Orangerie’ link building, enclosing an attractive outside courtyard, and leading to an outhouse, which was converted into a new utility room at ground floor, with a guest bedroom above. Valerie handled the project from start to finish. The clients said: “Valerie immediately understood what we had in mind; she was able to suggest and implement plans for bringing the house into the twenty first century whilst retaining its original character which was so important to us.  She was miraculously able to win planning permission for much needed extra bathrooms to be installed, and for a wonderful creation of space in an annexe loft.’
