Moat farmhouse is a spectacular Grade II Listed Building which sits in a beautiful, moated site. It dates from the 16th century but was re-fronted in the late 17th century. The house is timber framed, clad with red brick. It has a plain tiled roof with gables, 3 hipped dormers and triple-lozenge set stacks at both ends. Moat farmhouse has a magnificent central front door with a 1575 stained-glass fanlight and a pedimented hood. Le Vaillant Owen undertook comprehensive internal restoration work, including fitting new ensuites and bathrooms throughout the house, a new kitchen and new electrical and heating installations. The project also involved carrying out essential, sympathetic external repairs and maintenance, including restoring all the windows, repointing the walls and chimneys, and re-laying clay tiles to the roof, in a sympathetic manner. Valerie also undertook the sensitive development of a large rear extension, to accommodate a kitchen/family/dining room, and a separate atelier building in the grounds. Both are so carefully designed and detailed that they blend effortlessly with the original Listed building.
