Having obtained a Wedding Licence in 2015, the owners of Reach Court Farm developed an agricultural barn as a seasonal Wedding Venue, but were limited to 28 days of events per year as an allowable ‘alternative use’. Valerie was appointed to secure Planning Permission for a Change of Use from an Agricultural Barn to a Wedding Venue (Use Class D2), together with three extensions required to support the expanding business.Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Valerie successfully secured Planning Permission in 2021, working collaboratively with the owners and Dover DC Planning officers to address a range of issues, including noise, light pollution, fire management, highways access, visibility splays, parking and sustainable travel.Valerie demonstrated that the proposals would not harm neighbours’ living conditions, the rural character of the area or the natural environment, while delivering clear social and economic benefits. Today, Reach Court Farm Weddings is a thriving business supporting local suppliers and providing couples with a beautiful setting for their weddings.
